How about some cute 6 month baby chunk to brighten these gloomy times? I have such a backlog of sessions to share with you and so during the down time, I’m hoping to use it effectively and get caught back up on blogging!

I have been photographing this family since Graham (big brother) was a newborn! They are such snazzy dressers, right? Mama does such a good job coordinating but not matching! I need to hire her on as a stylist for me!

When preparing outfits for your sessions, I always reccomend choosing mom’s outfit first (because, let’s be honest, mom is usually the hardest person to shop for. I HATE shopping, and trying things on gives me serious anxiety). So once mom finds a killer outfit she likes, you can start coordinating the rest of the family! I recommend dresses (maxi dresses are always a client favorite and photograph beautifully), jeans and blouses/tops/sweaters, rompers! The options are endless!

Sticking to 2-3 colors is best! Don’t be afraid of patterns! Mix and match pattern and solid colors.

Try to avoid oversized clothes (especially for the kids). You don’t want them swimming in their outfits. Even if it means they’ll grow out of it practically over night, the correct fit for the photoshoot will result in better photos.

Don’t forget to accessorize/layer! Sweaters, vests, suspenders, jackets and jewlery always make you look more put together!

And shoes! Pair a nice shoe with your outfits (never tennis shoes or hiking boots)!
